Job Overview: As a Program Associate at WRI India, you will play a crucial role in supporting Indian cities, particularly Udaipur, in enhancing public spaces, transport, and streets as part of the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge. Reporting to the Program Manager, your responsibilities will include engaging with various stakeholders such as government agencies, civic groups, and professionals to develop and implement projects aimed at improving the well-being of young children and their caregivers. This role requires a systematic approach to enhancing urban environments through data-driven decision-making, capacity building, and policy advocacy. You will be involved in conducting surveys, data collection, and preparing project reports while also facilitating workshops and creating communication materials. The position demands a proactive, energetic individual who is willing to learn and adapt quickly to achieve project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage daily with the City Government and stakeholders to coordinate project objectives.
Prepare technical documents including data collection, surveys, analysis, base maps, design drawings, and reports.
Lead focused group discussions with local government agencies, community groups, NGOs, and private agencies to involve them in program activities.
Organize capacity building sessions for city officials and community groups to ensure long-term sustainability of actions.
Support WRI India in research or projects related to urban development.
Schedule meetings, make presentations, and assist in stakeholder consultations and workshops.
Communicate with internal team members for project progress reporting.
2 to 4 years of relevant experience, particularly in designing streets and public spaces.
Experience working with government stakeholders is preferred.
Strong understanding of public spaces, transport, sustainable development principles, and environmental issues.
Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis related to public spaces is essential.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe software, 3D visualization, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Familiarity with GIS is a plus.
Strong drawing and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a post-graduate degree in Urban Design or Urban Planning, which equips them with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to excel in this role.
Experience: The position requires 2 to 4 years of experience in a relevant field, with a focus on responsibilities related to the design of streets, public spaces, and associated activities. Experience in collaborating with government stakeholders or programs will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in Hindi is preferred, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and community members. Proficiency in English is also necessary for preparing reports and presentations.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Udaipur, India, with a salary range of INR 8,00,000 to INR 9,00,000 CTC, commensurate with experience and skills. The contract duration is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements.
