Job Overview:
The Youth Years Leader at Ashoka North America plays a crucial role in promoting the concept of changemaking among young people. This position is centered on ensuring that every young individual has the opportunity to realize their potential as a changemaker. The leader will work to create a cultural shift that values changemaking skills as essential for success in life, akin to traditional literacy. The role involves collaborating with Ashoka Fellows and strategic partners to mobilize efforts across various sectors, including education, media, and government, to prioritize changemaking in the upbringing and education of children. The Youth Years Leader will be instrumental in driving a movement that redefines how society views and supports young people as agents of change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote changemaking skills among young people across North America.
  • Collaborate with Ashoka Fellows and partners to create initiatives that foster a culture of changemaking in schools and communities.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including parents, educators, and policymakers, to advocate for the importance of changemaking in education and child development.
  • Mobilize networks and build partnerships that enhance the reach and impact of changemaking initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting changemaking skills.
  • Raise awareness about the significance of changemaking through media campaigns and public engagements.
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support programs and initiatives focused on youth changemaking.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in launching and leading a business or organization with a focus on social impact.
  • A strong track record of creating innovative ideas and successfully implementing them to achieve systemic change.
  • Experience in managing programs that promote changemaking and social entrepreneurship.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and nurture significant partnerships across various sectors.
  • Experience in mobilizing networks and communities to support social initiatives.
  • Proven success in raising substantial funds to support social impact projects.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social entrepreneurship, education, public policy, or a related discipline is preferred. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas may be advantageous but are not strictly required.

Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership roles focused on social impact, program management, or related fields is required. Candidates should have a history of successfully scaling initiatives and driving systemic change within their areas of expertise.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the communities served, is considered a plus but not required.
