Job Overview: In 2023, HI has been actively implementing a combination of humanitarian and development projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including a long-term rehabilitation project in Gaza. Following the recent conflict between Hamas and Israel in October 2023, which has resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis, HI is scaling up its response to meet the urgent needs of the affected population. The organization is hiring Emergency Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to provide technical expertise and ensure the quality and impact of rehabilitation services. The role involves recruiting and training national physiotherapists, providing technical support, and delivering expert training to key personnel in health structures such as doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists. The position will be based in Rafah, with short-term stays in Egypt, and will require adaptability to rapidly changing situations in a conflict-affected area.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Emergency Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists will be responsible for the following duties:
Recruit and train national physiotherapists to enhance local capacity in rehabilitation services.
Provide ongoing technical support to national physiotherapists to ensure effective service delivery.
Conduct expert training sessions for key personnel in health structures, including doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists, to improve their skills and knowledge in rehabilitation practices.
Assess the rehabilitation needs of individuals affected by the conflict and develop appropriate intervention plans.
Collaborate with other humanitarian actors to coordinate rehabilitation efforts and share best practices.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of rehabilitation services provided and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Ensure adherence to HI's standards and protocols in all rehabilitation activities.
Participate in the development of training materials and resources for capacity building.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. They should possess extensive experience in Rehabilitation Emergency Response, particularly in conflict-affected areas. Skills in training, coaching, and capacity building are essential, along with a strong ability to handle stress and adapt to rapidly changing situations. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to humanitarian principles and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Educational Background: A degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the principles and practices of rehabilitation, particularly in emergency contexts.

Additional Notes: The position is offered as an international contract, with a duration ranging from 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on the candidate's availability. The contract includes social coverage tailored to the individual's situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. Repatriation insurance is provided by HI. The salary starts at €2450 gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a net per diem of €775.24 per month and a hardship allowance of €500 net per month. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and rest and recuperation periods, with a level 3 designation indicating very difficult conditions (5 days every 8 weeks). The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively arranged and covered by HI. For residents of the country, a local package will be offered.
