Job Overview:
The Communications and Social Mobilization Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting UNFPA's mission in Costa Rica by designing, planning, executing, and monitoring communication and partnership strategies. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including national institutions, NGOs, and the private sector, to enhance UNFPA's visibility and resource mobilization efforts. The Analyst will analyze political, social, and economic trends to inform program formulation and ensure effective communication strategies are in place to advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and other key issues. The role requires a strategic approach to managing communications and partnerships, ensuring that UNFPA's objectives are met through innovative and impactful initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst will be responsible for developing a comprehensive communications strategy that addresses gaps in public awareness of UNFPA's mandate. This includes creating work plans for communication activities, monitoring compliance, and managing the communication budget. The Analyst will also provide guidance on communications by analyzing the internal and external environment, producing policy updates, and fostering collaboration with mass media. Additionally, the Analyst will support social mobilization efforts by identifying potential partnerships and funding sources, preparing background documents for resource mobilization, and maintaining profiles of strategic donors. The role involves monitoring existing partnerships, ensuring timely reporting, and supporting the development of advocacy and communication training for partners. The Analyst will also contribute to the UN Communications Group and represent UNFPA in various forums to promote a coherent image of the UN in Costa Rica.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree (minimum Master's Degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Policies, Political or Social Sciences. A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in Corporate Communication and Resource Mobilization is required, with a strong emphasis on culturally sensitive programming. Candidates should demonstrate experience in promoting gender equality, humanitarian response, and population policies, as well as a proven track record of technical leadership and high-quality results. Knowledge of data management best practices and experience in implementing 'Leave No One Behind' strategies are essential.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Policies, Political or Social Sciences is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and social mobilization efforts within the context of UNFPA's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in Corporate Communication and Resource Mobilization. Candidates should have prior experience in culturally sensitive programming and a strong track record of advising and supporting initiatives that promote equality responses and population policies. Experience in implementing strategies that focus on gender equality and humanitarian response is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of other official UN languages is considered an asset, as it enhances communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
