Job Overview: The Africa Financial Director will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy of Ashoka Africa, ensuring that financial operations align with the organization's mission of empowering changemakers. This position requires a dynamic leader who can oversee financial management, growth planning, and strategy alignment. The director will be responsible for leading the finance vision for Ashoka Africa, serving as a strategic advisor to senior management, and ensuring robust financial controls and transparency. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of the finance vision for Ashoka Africa, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan to scale the Everyone A Changemaker movement.
Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the Africa Diamond Leader and senior management, guiding financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, and policy development.
Oversee the development of annual and multi-year budgets in collaboration with Africa’s team leaders, ensuring approval by regional leadership and Ashoka's global board.
Champion growth strategies by ensuring strong financial controls, risk management, and transparency across the organization.
Collaborate with Ashoka’s global finance teams and external partners to support regional and organizational goals, building relationships with key financial and programmatic stakeholders.
Monitor financial performance and provide insights to enhance decision-making and strategic planning.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or an MBA (CPA preferred).
Significant experience in financial management within decentralized, mission-driven organizations.
Proven track record in scaling operations and working with social sector organizations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for diverse audiences.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive and ability to innovate within dynamic, growth-oriented environments.
Strong ethical standards, including trustworthiness, self-reflection, empathy, and integrity.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or an MBA, with a CPA designation preferred. This educational background is essential for understanding complex financial systems and ensuring effective financial management within the organization.
