Job Overview:
The Lead for Women’s Heart Disease Education and Awareness – Community Capacity Building is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association. This position is responsible for acting as a liaison between national and regional teams to enhance collaboration and improve outcomes related to women’s heart health and heart valve disease. The lead will develop and implement community engagement strategies at the market level, ensuring that the initiatives align with the goals of the organization and meet the deliverables of the grant. The role requires a proactive approach to fostering partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and ensuring that educational resources are effectively disseminated. The selected candidate will work closely with various teams to assess community needs and provide technical assistance for the implementation of engagement plans. This position is flexible and can be performed remotely, allowing for a broader reach in community engagement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with national, regional, and market leadership to identify and partner with community-based organizations (CBOs) in three or more communities to support women’s heart disease and heart valve disease education and awareness efforts.
  • Work with national and local teams to assess the educational, training, and resource needs of communities and CBOs regarding women’s heart disease and heart valve disease.
  • Develop community engagement plans in collaboration with national, regional, and market leads, providing technical assistance on implementation through participating CBOs.
  • Ensure accountability to grant reporting deliverables, including supporting appropriate time and activity tracking.
  • Serve as a liaison between community teams and the evaluation team to support grant evaluation, ensuring proper tracking and reporting.
  • Oversee the budget and ensure that funds are utilized in accordance with grant expectations.
  • Organize and communicate with the national cross-departmental grant team to maximize collaboration and efficiency in achieving project goals.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in roles that demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills, particularly in team management and coalition building.
  • Proven consulting experience, especially in contexts where the individual does not have direct reporting relationships.
  • Ability to effectively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment, working towards common goals.
  • Skills in selling strategies, projects, and ideas to internal audiences, assisting colleagues in achieving outcome goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote systemic public health impact and collaborate with community organizations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in public health principles and practices, particularly as they relate to community engagement and health education.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have three to five years of relevant experience in public health, community engagement, or a related field.
