Job Overview:
The Senior Program Lead for Scholars Alumni Engagement is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, responsible for leading and assisting in the development and implementation of programs related to the Association’s Scholars Program. This position requires collaboration across various departments within the AHA, including Science, Advocacy, Marketing Communications, and Mission Advancement. The primary focus is to create strategies that engage Scholars as Ambassadors, Advocates, and Fundraisers. The role also involves cultivating alliances and developing engagement channels to enhance revenue-generating opportunities for the Scholars Program, both nationally and locally. The position is remote-based within the U.S. and is a full-time, benefits-eligible, grant-funded opportunity, with current funding through June 30, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Program Lead will assist in developing strategic plans and implementing the Scholars Alumni Engagement Strategy. This includes collaborating with various departments to create a Scholars ecosystem that enables comprehensive solutions for Scholars. The role involves establishing and growing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for communications and marketing, focusing on increasing awareness and brand recognition of the Scholars Program. The Senior Lead will identify key national strategic alliance partners to foster new business and volunteer relationships, enhancing opportunities for revenue generation and volunteer leadership. Additionally, the position requires ongoing relationship management, tracking, and evaluation of the Alumni Engagement strategy to strengthen the core Scholars Program. The Senior Lead will also develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, volunteers, sponsors, and partners throughout the program planning process, ensuring effective communication and programmatic development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fields such as Health Promotion, Public Health, Human Resources, Marketing, Business, or Communications. A minimum of five years of validated experience in business development or account management is required. Experience in alumni program development, event planning, and project management related to Scholars Alumni activities is essential. Strong analytical skills are necessary to monitor expenses and prioritize tasks effectively. Candidates should have experience in higher education, development, or university relations settings, and the ability to build and manage relationships with multiple external stakeholders. The role requires independent work capabilities while collaborating with cross-functional teams, as well as experience in public health or non-profit services. Comprehensive experience in budget building, market trend analysis, and creative business opportunity identification is also required.
