Job Overview:
The National UN Youth Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the NDC 3.0 process, which involves reviewing and updating Sri Lanka's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. This position requires coordination among various stakeholders, including UNDP teams, government agencies, and development partners. The volunteer will assist in preparing communication materials, organizing workshops and public events, and documenting meetings to ensure effective follow-up. This role not only contributes to the enhancement of Sri Lanka's climate goals but also promotes voluntary engagement and community involvement in environmental sustainability efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National UN Youth Volunteer will be responsible for providing coordination support among stakeholders involved in the NDC 3.0 process. This includes assisting in the preparation of materials for workshops and outreach activities, organizing meetings and public events, and ensuring logistical arrangements are in place. The volunteer will document meetings, prepare minutes and action points, and compile reports and summaries related to the NDC 3.0 process. Additionally, the volunteer is encouraged to engage in activities that promote volunteerism, such as participating in UNV events, contributing to publications, and supporting local volunteer initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and the mission of the UNDP is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Educational Background:
A background in environmental science, international relations, development studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of climate change issues and sustainable development practices, particularly in the context of Sri Lanka.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should demonstrate relevant skills and a proactive approach to learning and contributing to the team's objectives. Experience in organizing events or working with diverse stakeholders will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the UNDP. Knowledge of Sinhala or Tamil would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate meetings and events.
