Job Overview:

  • This role is critical as it addresses the increasing challenges posed by sargassum inundations along Caribbean coastlines, which have significant implications for marine biodiversity, fisheries, tourism, and coastal livelihoods. The consultant will work closely with the AMEP and SPAW Programme Officers at the Cartagena Convention Secretariat, ensuring that all technical inputs are expertly evaluated and incorporated into a comprehensive final report. This report will include actionable recommendations based on the discussions held during the meeting. The position is home-based, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while still requiring a high level of professionalism and expertise in report writing and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary responsibilities include capturing discussions and recommendations from the Joint Working Group Meeting, evaluating technical inputs received, and preparing a final report that summarizes the outcomes of the meeting. The consultant will need to engage with various stakeholders, ensuring that all relevant perspectives are considered in the report. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the report meets UNEP's standards for quality and clarity, which may involve multiple rounds of editing and revisions based on feedback from the Programme Officers. Required Qualifications:

Experience working with various stakeholders, institutions, and agencies is desirable, as is experience with a UN entity or an international organization. Excellent communication skills and good organizational and analytical skills are also essential for this role.

Educational Background:
