The ATscale Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization focuses on increasing accessibility and affordability of AT to unlock economic potential and provide socio-economic benefits for individuals and communities.
Job Overview: The Advisory Technical Group managed by the ATscale Secretariat is composed of technical experts from various disciplines relevant to assistive technology. This group provides independent advice on ATscale’s strategic priorities, annual work plans, and global interventions. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating strategic value, potential impact, technical soundness, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness of ATscale’s initiatives. The role requires engagement with stakeholders to strengthen the global AT ecosystem and contribute to capacity-building activities. The position is flexible, with workload depending on ATscale's needs, and may involve travel for in-person meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide independent advice on ATscale’s strategic priorities and annual work plans.
Assist in identifying gaps and prioritizing areas for interventions.
Support the development of technical documents and proposals related to AT policy and systems.
Participate in the evaluation of proposals for their strategic value and technical soundness.
Provide insights on trends and risks in the assistive technology sector.
Recommend potential collaborators to strengthen the AT ecosystem.
Lead capacity-building activities such as webinars and workshops.
Engage in ATscale’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning framework.
Participate in virtual meetings with stakeholders to discuss initiatives and provide recommendations.

Offer consultations on AT policy and systems as needed.

Undertake other related duties as required, including potential travel for meetings.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Masters or above) in relevant fields such as Public Health, Ophthalmology, Audiology, or Social Science.
A Bachelor's degree with 2 additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Minimum of 9 years of experience in assistive technology, public health, or social services.
Demonstrated experience in providing technical advice for assistive technology programs.
Familiarity with global AT stakeholders and understanding of cultural factors influencing AT adoption.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Ophthalmology, Audiology, or Social Science. A Bachelor's degree combined with additional relevant work experience may also be considered.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 9 years of combined experience in assistive technology, particularly in public health or social services. Experience in planning, implementation, and monitoring of assistive technology programs is essential, along with familiarity with global stakeholders and policy dialogue processes.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Working knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as a retainer contract with no minimum number of working days guaranteed. The contract is initially for one year and may be renewable based on performance and funding availability.
