Job Overview:
The Institutional Funding and Grant Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting ATscale's mission by assisting the Partnership Development Advisor in researching funding opportunities, coordinating proposal development, and managing donor reporting. This position is crucial for mobilizing additional resources to support ATscale's objectives beyond 202
  • The consultant will be responsible for developing high-quality proposals, conducting donor research, and ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to create compelling documents that align with funder priorities and ATscale's strategic direction. The consultant will also be tasked with maintaining strong relationships with donors and ensuring effective communication regarding project progress and impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Proposal Development: Develop, write, and submit high-quality proposals, including concept notes and reports. Ensure clarity and effectiveness in proposals, aligning them with funder priorities and ATscale's strategic direction. Collaborate with internal and external experts to gather necessary data and technical expertise.
  • Donor Research and Identification: Identify potential funding sources, analyze donor priorities, and develop a comprehensive donor mapping and engagement strategy. Maintain a database of potential donors and their funding areas.
  • Donor Reporting: Support the development of strong donor relationships through timely communication and high-quality reporting. Ensure compliance with donor reporting guidelines and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.

Required Qualifications:
A University Degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in social science, political science, international relations, media and communication, journalism, marketing, business, economics, development studies, resource mobilization, or international development is required, along with 5 years of relevant experience. A Bachelor degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be acceptable in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates must demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, strategic thinking, and a strong network of donor contacts. Experience in the UN system and the assistive technology or disability sector is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a University Degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as social science, political science, international relations, media and communication, journalism, marketing, business, economics, development studies, resource mobilization, or international development. A Bachelor degree with additional relevant experience may also be considered acceptable.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional fundraising, particularly in the fields of assistive technology, public health, disability, or international development, is required. A successful track record of securing multi-year funding from diverse donors is essential. Candidates should also have experience working independently and managing multiple projects simultaneously, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, particularly French, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a retainer contract level of ICS-10 (IICA 2 / LICA 10). The initial contract duration is one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
