Job Overview: The Education Officer plays a crucial role in implementing education activities within the Bekaa area of Lebanon. This position is responsible for coordinating educational initiatives in alignment with NRC's strategic objectives, proposals, budgets, and operational plans. The officer will ensure compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements while actively engaging with communities and local leaders to inform them about ongoing activities. The role involves breaking down annual operational plans into actionable weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans, as well as coordinating with relevant partners to ensure the successful execution of educational programs. The Education Officer will also supervise and develop the team, prepare progress reports, and explore new technologies and methods to enhance the quality of educational activities. Furthermore, the officer will ensure that all activities adhere to NRC's Protection mainstreaming guidelines and report any concerns to the appropriate channels.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Officer's duties include coordinating education activities according to established strategies and plans, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements, and engaging with communities to inform them about educational initiatives. The officer will break down annual operational plans into detailed implementation plans, supervise the procurement and distribution of educational materials, and train and develop team members. Responsibilities also include preparing periodic progress reports, investigating new technologies to improve educational quality, and ensuring compliance with protection guidelines. The officer will participate in designing and implementing education assessments, develop training programs, and create a safe learning environment for children and youth. Additionally, the officer will maintain positive relations with local communities, conduct outreach sessions, monitor educational programs, and manage administrative tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, along with 2-3 years of experience working in the education sector, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context. Strong documentation, research, and report writing skills are essential, as well as proficiency in both English and Arabic, both written and spoken. Experience in designing and presenting training programs is also required, along with the ability to work effectively in challenging environments and with diverse populations.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding educational theories, practices, and methodologies relevant to the role of an Education Officer in a humanitarian context.
Experience: The position requires 2-3 years of relevant experience in the education field, specifically as a teacher or trainer. This experience should ideally be within a humanitarian or recovery context, demonstrating the candidate's ability to adapt educational practices to meet the needs of vulnerable populations and to work effectively in challenging environments.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, both in written and spoken forms.
