UNICEF, established in 1946, is dedicated to providing emergency relief to children affected by crises, with a mission to promote and protect child rights globally. The organization has been operational in Jordan since 1952, focusing on the survival, protection, education, and healthy development of children. UNICEF has adapted its approach in Jordan to address the needs of vulnerable children, particularly in light of the Syrian crisis that began in 2013, by implementing targeted interventions regardless of nationality.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer position is integral to UNICEF’s communication and public advocacy efforts in the MENA region, particularly addressing child protection issues and inequalities exacerbated by conflict. The volunteer will be responsible for producing and disseminating multimedia content that raises awareness and advocates for child rights. This role involves creating engaging video content tailored for various digital platforms, supporting social media strategies, and managing website content to enhance UNICEF's outreach and impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake several key tasks under the supervision of the Communication Specialist, including:
  • Video Production & Editing: Editing and producing high-quality video content for UNICEF’s social media and digital platforms using Adobe Premiere; writing impactful scripts; adapting videos for different platforms; and translating content into Arabic.
  • Social Media Management: Scheduling and posting content, tracking engagement metrics, and assisting in content creation to boost audience interaction.
  • Website Management: Posting content on the UNICEF website and tracking its performance for reporting purposes.
  • Graphic Design: Creating simple graphics for social media and providing design support using tools like Canva, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong skills in video production and editing, particularly with Adobe Premiere. Proficiency in social media management and content creation is essential, along with a good understanding of graphic design principles. The ability to write compelling scripts and translate content into Arabic is also required. Familiarity with website management and analytics is beneficial.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, media, graphic design, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that demonstrates their ability to perform the tasks outlined in the job description.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in video production, social media management, and graphic design. Experience working in a non-profit or humanitarian context, particularly with children’s rights or advocacy, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the MENA region's socio-political context will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with proficiency in English being highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the MENA region would be considered a plus.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Specialist Volunteer position based in Jordan. The volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance of JOD 1,101.58, along with annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The role is full-time and aims to support UNICEF's mission in addressing child rights and protection issues.
