Job Overview:
The Migration Health Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Head of Sub Office and the Migration Health Physician, coordinating health activities and service delivery for the IOM JICA project. This role involves overseeing health outreach programs, training logistics, and managing patient data. The incumbent will ensure high standards of care and optimal delivery of health services in accordance with international best practices. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide staff in health sensitization and TB screening, as well as managing documentation and inventory related to health services. The coordinator will also participate in patient care and follow-up, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive treatment and support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all field activities related to the health project in the designated PHCC.
- Mobilize and coordinate staff for capacity building initiatives.
- Organize health sensitization and TB screening efforts within the health facility.
- Manage the documentation process for the project, ensuring all records are updated in a database.
- Collaborate with warehouse colleagues to manage inventory, ensuring proper storage and stock card updates.
- Inspect goods received from vendors for quality and quantity, verifying all related documentation.
- Maintain an accurate inventory through regular counting and updates.
- Keep detailed reports on clinic health service delivery and monitor patient progress.
- Assist in managing critical and emergency cases, ensuring appropriate referrals to specialists. 1
- Participate in patient care and follow-up treatment plans. 1
- Stay updated on medical advancements and legal standards in healthcare. 1
- Document and summarize monthly reports of PHCC activities for supervisors. 1
- Contribute to the design and formulation of unit policies and clinical pathways. 1
- Perform other duties as assigned by the PHCC Head or Medical Officer.
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in Nursing (BSc) with 3 years of clinical experience, or a Diploma in Nursing with 5 years of clinical experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN), Midwife, Public Health, or Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) with a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience.
- Valid nursing license to practice in Nigeria.
- Excellent technical skills with a minimum of three years of continuous practice post-graduation.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with government counterparts and international organizations.
- Previous experience with UN or international organizations is advantageous.
- Training in first-aid, emergency health, TB management, immunizations, mental health, communicable diseases, or public health is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team. 1
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines. 1
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in all tasks.
Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in Nursing (BSc) or a Diploma in Nursing. Candidates must have a valid nursing license to practice in Nigeria and should have completed relevant training in clinical care, public health, or related fields.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of clinical experience if holding a BSc in Nursing, or five years if holding a Diploma in Nursing. Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in emergency response or humanitarian contexts, is highly valued.
Languages:
Fluency in English (oral and written) is mandatory. A working knowledge of the local language is desirable, which would enhance communication with patients and community members.
