Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence Assistant (Case Management) plays a crucial role in identifying and supporting individuals at high risk of harm. This position involves working closely with vulnerable adults, assessing their needs, and providing case management services according to established protocols. The assistant will engage in fieldwork, visiting referred cases, and ensuring that each individual receives the necessary support as outlined in their action plans. Regular follow-ups and coordination with service providers are essential to ensure comprehensive support for the cases managed. The assistant will collaborate closely with the Protection from Violence Coordinator or Project Manager, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the protection program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Protection from Violence Assistant include:
- Conducting daily visits to communities to engage with community committees and families, gathering vital information about vulnerable individuals.
- Identifying individuals who have faced sudden shocks and are eligible for case management services.
- Supporting the implementation of protection monitoring and case management activities.
- Leading daily case management activities, including identifying vulnerable individuals, providing services, and managing the referral process.
- Offering guidance and supervision to Protection Case Management Technical Assistants to ensure compliance with relevant standards and protocols.
- Organizing regular case conferences with the Protection from Violence Specialist and Coordinator to strategize on case management directions.
- Accompanying field teams on visits to monitor and support case management activities.
- Keeping service mapping updated in collaboration with the CCR team and ensuring staff are well-informed.
- Liaising with information management staff to maintain accurate data records and trackers. 1
- Producing monthly case management reports. 1
- Assisting the Protection Team Leader and Coordinator in training staff on effective case management practices. 1
- Ensuring confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive data related to protection monitoring. 1
- Participating in internal and external meetings to represent the protection team. 1
- Overseeing the distribution of cash grants according to beneficiaries' preferences. 1
- Engaging in data collection processes, including surveys and assessments, as needed. 1
- Supporting the development of programmatic documents and analyses. 1
- Collaborating with community structures to identify protection risks and develop risk reduction plans. 1
- Promoting positive relationships with service providers.
Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Protection from Violence Assistant position include:
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Journalism, or Humanities.
- Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in local languages, both written and verbal, with basic knowledge of English.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed.
- Immediate availability to commence work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Science, Social Work, Journalism, or Humanities. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and effectively engaging with vulnerable populations.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1 to 3 years of previous humanitarian experience, demonstrating satisfactory performance in similar roles. Experience in cash programming, protection, social cohesion, International law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Humanitarian Law, negotiations, conflict resolution, and mediation is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of experience implementing case management and individualized assistance in a humanitarian context, preferably with international NGOs or other international partners.
Languages:
Fluency in local languages, specifically Pashto and Dari, is mandatory for this position. Basic knowledge of English is also required. Proficiency in local languages is crucial for effective communication with beneficiaries and community members.
Additional Notes:
This position is national, and only internal candidates from Afghanistan will be considered. The role offers a monthly salary based on the NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale, medical coverage for staff and four dependents, and leave and holidays in accordance with Afghanistan Labour Law. Employees will receive a top-up credit card monthly.
