Job Overview: The position of Asociado/a en Salud (UNV Experto) is critical in addressing the challenges faced by the health system in Honduras, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and other emergencies that have severely impacted vulnerable children and adolescents. The selected candidate will work closely with the Health and Nutrition Specialist at UNICEF's Central Office to implement the Supply Chain Maturity Model at the national level. This role involves assessing the current performance of the national health supply chain, identifying critical areas for improvement, and developing strategies to strengthen the supply chain in collaboration with government authorities. The goal is to enhance the quality of health services for mothers, children, and adolescents while contributing to the reduction of key indicators such as maternal and child mortality. The position requires a proactive approach to planning, supervision, and reporting, ensuring that UNICEF's objectives are met effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asociado/a en Salud will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: conducting a mapping of key stakeholders to develop assessments; leading and guiding technical sessions and workshops necessary for implementing UNICEF's Supply Chain Maturity Model in the country; interpreting, presenting, and formulating recommendations based on the model; planning and coordinating supply chain strengthening activities based on the model's results; drafting the national supply chain strengthening strategy, roadmap, and value flow map derived from the model's outcomes; supporting the country in using the model as a monitoring and evaluation tool; preparing empirical reports to guide UNICEF's actions in collaboration with government and partners; and assisting the country office in profiling planning documents using the model's results as evidence.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in supply chain management and logistics, with proven experience in similar roles. They should demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies and partners. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effectively conveying complex information and recommendations. Additionally, candidates should be adaptable and able to work in a dynamic environment, responding to the evolving needs of the health system in Honduras.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in public health, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's competitiveness for the position.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in supply chain management, logistics, or public health, particularly in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations, especially in health-related projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the health system in Honduras and previous work experience in the region will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Honduras. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and collaboration with international partners. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local context may be beneficial.
