Job Overview:
The Science & Health Advisor position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that supports the National Center office located in Dallas, TX. This position is primarily home-based and is a full-time, benefits-eligible, grant-funded opportunity. The current funding for this role is set to expire on June 30, 2028, with the possibility of extension. The advisor will be responsible for overseeing the outpatient portfolio of certification programs, managing all business functions related to these programs, including development, implementation, revision, and management. This role requires a strong foundation in healthcare certification programs, as the advisor will develop certification standards aligned with market needs and organizational values. The position also involves overseeing marketing materials, campaigns, and deliverables to funders, ensuring that the AHA's mission and goals are effectively communicated and achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Science & Health Advisor will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: overseeing the recruitment, engagement, and management of volunteer workgroups for healthcare certifications; managing operational and logistical deliverables; collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to enhance certification availability; overseeing the build process for necessary platforms; supporting internal teams in program development; fostering relationships with external organizations and expert volunteers; designing and auditing certification processes to maximize efficacy; and collaborating with the Certification Evaluation Team to draft measurable standards based on scientific evidence. The advisor will also conduct routine quality improvement exercises to promote program efficiency and ensure the integrity of certification processes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Science & Health Advisor position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with 5-8 years of relevant clinical experience. Experience in healthcare, healthcare education, or public health-related organizations is essential, particularly in clinical, quality improvement, program development, and systems improvement. Project management experience is required, with a proven ability to influence performance without direct line accountability. Additionally, candidates should have experience in programmatic development and be skilled in recruiting, training, and developing volunteers to align with organizational goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, and the ability to travel up to 20% is required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A Master's degree in nursing, biology, business administration, public health, or other healthcare-related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
