Job Overview:
The Casework Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing trauma-informed services to refugees and other qualified immigrants, ensuring they have a positive adjustment experience and achieve self-sufficiency. This position involves managing a team that provides employment case management, working closely with clients to develop tailored service and self-sufficiency plans. The coordinator utilizes a variety of resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational services, to meet the individual needs of clients while adhering to program requirements. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration with colleagues and external parties to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Casework Coordinator's responsibilities include coordinating intake processes for refugees and other eligible populations, verifying immigration status, and confirming eligibility for benefits. The coordinator assigns cases and supervises caseworkers, ensuring compliance with program contracts and maintaining oversight of case files. They are responsible for monitoring client participation in employment services, connecting clients to job opportunities, and ensuring that all clients receive the mandated range of services. Additionally, the coordinator is tasked with recruiting and training staff, overseeing their performance, and fostering a supportive environment for both team members and clients. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, with a preference for those with relevant professional experience in the human services sector. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is required, with a strong preference for candidates who have resettlement experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to the IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of human services and the specific needs of refugees and immigrants.
Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant professional experience in the human services field, with a strong preference for candidates who have at least two years of experience specifically in resettlement services. This experience is crucial for understanding the challenges faced by clients and for effectively managing casework teams.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages spoken by the client group is highly desired, as it enhances communication and service delivery to diverse populations.
