Job Overview:
The Development Director position is a critical role within the American Heart Association, responsible for managing the Janesville and Appleton Heart Walks while also focusing on targeted growth throughout the state of Wisconsin. This position requires a proactive individual who is comfortable with regular travel across the state to engage with corporate sponsors and individual donors. The Development Director will work in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment, where the primary goal is to drive revenue that supports the AHA's mission. The role offers a base salary with the potential for an incentive of up to 25% based on achieving specific revenue targets. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will be responsible for generating revenue through various means, including prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Key responsibilities include achieving revenue goals by building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors, developing and presenting proposals to secure funding, and recruiting executive volunteer leadership and event volunteers. The Director will also engage new individual members for the Cor Vitae giving society and plan events in collaboration with internal and external partners. Additionally, the role involves working closely with the Communications Director to support campaign communication plans and ensure effective outreach and engagement with the community.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required due to the need for daily local travel, which can be up to 75%. The ability to lift and move large objects is also necessary, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Preferred qualifications include a university or college degree, experience managing relationships with high-level leaders at the C-Suite level, and knowledge of corporate and community networks.
Educational Background:
While a university or college degree is preferred, equivalent experience in fundraising or sales may be considered. The emphasis is on practical experience and the ability to demonstrate success in similar roles.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field. Experience in managing relationships with corporate sponsors and high-level executives is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of achieving revenue targets and engaging volunteers effectively.
Languages:
