Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke position is a critical role within the American Heart Association, focusing on the implementation of quality improvement programs aimed at enhancing care for patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly in South Dakota. This position is home-based, allowing for flexibility while supporting the National Center office in Dallas, TX. The consultant will be responsible for educating healthcare providers on best practices and guidelines, motivating improvements in clinical processes, and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and on time. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Consultant will drive the implementation of quality improvement projects that align with American Heart Association guidelines for treating patients with cardiovascular disease. Key responsibilities include providing consultation and support through learning cohorts, developing program implementation strategies, and serving as the primary contact for hospitals and clinics. The consultant will facilitate learning cohort meetings and local conferences, develop clinical decision support tools, and work collaboratively with clinical teams to enhance patient outcomes. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is essential to ensure tasks are completed according to grant timelines. The consultant will also manage project documentation, including budgets and status reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in project management, including budget and timeline management, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are necessary, and the ability to travel up to 15% for overnight stays in South Dakota is required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required for this position. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to healthcare quality improvement, clinical practices, or public health.
