Job Overview: The IT Officer position is a critical role within UNICEF Rwanda, specifically under the Generation Unlimited initiative. This role involves supporting the Ingazi platform, which is a digital resource aimed at providing job-relevant learning materials and career connections for the youth of Rwanda. The IT Officer will work closely with the Chief Education at UNICEF and the Ingazi IT taskforce to manage vendors, monitor performance data, and ensure the smooth operation of the platform. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting technical issues, facilitating content uploads, and integrating external platforms that enhance the learning experience for users. The IT Officer will also be responsible for drafting technical documentation and supporting the overall mission of empowering young people in Rwanda through education and employment opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IT Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing vendor relationships for the Ingazi platform's development, monitoring contract deliverables, and ensuring quality assurance of products. The officer will also be tasked with collecting and analyzing performance data for reporting purposes, scheduling and coordinating IT task force meetings, and drafting responses to technical issues faced by users. Additionally, the IT Officer will research and propose innovative solutions for optimizing the Ingazi platform, troubleshoot daily technical issues, facilitate the integration of external platforms, and assist in uploading educational content. The role also includes drafting a platform manual and supporting documentation for procurement and fundraising efforts. The IT Officer will engage in community volunteerism activities as part of their role, promoting the UN Volunteers programme and contributing to local volunteer initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the IT Officer position should possess strong technical skills, particularly in IT management and support. They should have experience in vendor management, data analysis, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong understanding of digital platforms and their functionalities are essential.
