Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that serves as a business partner and advisor to leaders and employees within the Midwest region. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, including leadership development and virtual training sessions. The role is designed to support employees throughout their lifecycle, from onboarding to departure, and to enhance employee engagement and organizational development. The HR Director will also utilize HR metrics and data to provide insights for continuous improvement in workplace culture and leadership effectiveness. This position can be home-based anywhere within the 13-state Midwest region, allowing for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the needs of the organization and its employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, conducting check-in calls, assisting with the creation of development plans, and processing departures. The HR Director will advise employees and managers on various HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and talent succession. They will analyze key HR metrics and reports to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance performance. The role includes creating and facilitating virtual leadership and individual contributor training sessions, leading region-wide HR projects, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The HR Director will also participate in cross-functional projects and maintain strong partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, HR Operations, and Total Rewards. Additional duties may be assigned as needed within the functional area of expertise.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HR Director position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. A minimum of three years of proven experience in human resources is required, with at least two years of experience in providing employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is preferred, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to relate to and influence individuals at all levels of the organization is essential. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance, exceptional skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
