Job Overview:
The Development Director position is a critical role within the American Heart Association, particularly in the context of their fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for generating revenue through various Impact Campaigns, which include Women of Impact, Teen of Impact, and Leaders of Impact. The Director will engage in recruiting fundraising volunteers, securing financial contributions, and cultivating relationships with individual donors. The role requires a proactive approach to fundraising, including the implementation of special events and collaboration with internal development staff. Daily travel is a significant aspect of this role, as it involves meeting with potential donors and partners to drive revenue in support of the AHA's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will be accountable for achieving ambitious fundraising goals and will carry out high-quality events in accordance with Association standards. Key responsibilities include generating revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorships and individual donations, achieving revenue goals through relationship building, and driving peer-to-peer fundraising strategies. The Director will also recruit, engage, and recognize high-level volunteers for fundraising campaigns, providing effective orientation and ongoing coaching to enhance their experience and increase revenue. Additionally, the role involves building and maintaining a pipeline of prospective sponsors and donors, developing proposals, and leading engagement for the Cor Vitae giving society. The Director will also plan and implement events in collaboration with internal and external partners and work closely with the Communications Director to support campaign communication plans.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Development Director position should possess at least three years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field. The ability to travel locally up to 75% of the time is essential, and candidates must have access to reliable transportation. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move large objects, with the understanding that assistance may be needed for heavier items. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a university or college degree, experience managing relationships with high-level leaders, and knowledge of corporate and community networks.

Educational Background:
While a university or college degree is preferred, equivalent experience in fundraising or sales may also be considered. The educational background should ideally align with the responsibilities of the role, emphasizing skills in communication, marketing, and relationship management.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals and cultivating relationships with donors and corporate sponsors. Experience in managing high-level volunteer engagement and executing successful fundraising events is also highly desirable.

Languages:
