Job Overview:
The Sr. Mission Advancement Advisor is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, focusing on cultivating and managing relationships with individual donors, particularly those capable of making significant contributions. This position is responsible for a portfolio of principal gift prospects and donors, primarily in the Midwest region of the United States. The advisor will engage with donors to communicate the mission and impact of the AHA, aiming to secure over $2.5 million annually from individual contributions. Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Sr. Mission Advancement Advisor include:
  • Cultivating and managing relationships with approximately 50 individual donors, focusing on those with a capacity to give in the seven-figure range.
  • Conducting a minimum of 100 meaningful interactions with donors and prospective donors each fiscal year.
  • Soliciting 24 seven-figure gifts annually for both restricted and unrestricted purposes.
  • Collaborating with field directors to identify and cultivate principal gift prospects that align with market, regional, and national priorities.
  • Developing and executing customized engagement strategies for donors to enhance relationships and secure contributions.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all donor interactions and activities in the Salesforce CRM database.
  • Reporting on plans, activities, and results to Mission Advancement leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Participating in regional and market activities, including social events and mission-centered health events, to foster donor relationships.
  • Supporting the development of programs and strategies to advance revenue development for the AHA.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Sr. Mission Advancement Advisor position must possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, with at least three years focused on individual major and principal gifts, preferably in the health or community sectors.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising results at the six-figure and higher gift ranges.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and donors at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific information for lay audiences.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% locally and 10% overnight for donor engagement and events.

Educational Background:
