Job Overview:
The International Production Editor plays a crucial role in ensuring the editorial quality and consistency of international training products developed by the Healthcare Business Solutions Programs at the AHA. This position involves overseeing materials that are translated into more than 13 languages and distributed worldwide in both print and electronic formats. The training products focus on critical areas such as cardiac arrest, first aid, and stroke, and are essential for generating revenue to support the AHA's mission. The editor will work closely with various teams to maintain high standards of quality and effectiveness in the training materials, contributing to the AHA's goal of improving health and saving lives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The International Production Editor will be responsible for a range of duties including: providing production editing on international training products across various media; proofing layouts and ensuring consistency between translated materials and the English source; following established checklists, style guides, and quality tools; reviewing the work of editorial contractors and media developers; communicating effectively with project team members; performing usability testing on digital products; maintaining organized records of work; assisting with the setup of source files and terminology management systems; and continually upgrading knowledge of AHA products and programs. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality in all aspects of production editing.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills are essential for building relationships and gaining trust with volunteers and employees. Experience in managing translation projects or designing translated materials is required, as well as proficiency in copyediting and proofreading scientific, technical, or medical content. Familiarity with editing translated digital products such as online courseware and mobile apps is also necessary. Project management skills and the ability to adhere to schedules and deadlines are critical for success in this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro is required, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 10% of the time annually.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational skills necessary for effective communication, editing, and project management within the context of international training products.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in production editing, particularly in the context of international training materials. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing translation projects and editing scientific or technical content, demonstrating their ability to handle complex editorial tasks and maintain high standards of quality.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and the ability to communicate in two or more additional languages is preferred. This multilingual capability is essential for effectively managing and editing translated materials, ensuring that the content is accessible to a global audience.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with the option to work remotely. The expected salary range for this role is between $65,000 and $85,000, depending on experience and geographic differentials.
