Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, primarily focused on enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, particularly in South Dakota. This position is home-based, allowing for flexibility while supporting the National Center office in Dallas, TX. The consultant will be responsible for implementing quality improvement programs, educating healthcare providers on treatment guidelines, and motivating them to adopt best practices. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Consultant will drive the implementation of quality improvement projects aimed at helping healthcare providers adhere to American Heart Association guidelines for cardiovascular disease treatment. Key responsibilities include providing consultation and support through learning cohorts, developing program implementation strategies, and serving as the primary contact for hospitals and clinics. The consultant will facilitate learning cohort meetings, recruit program participants, and work closely with clinical care teams to address barriers to guideline adoption. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is essential to ensure tasks align with grant timelines, and the consultant will manage project documents, including budgets and status reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in project management, including budget and timeline management, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are necessary, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 15% for work-related purposes.
