Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, primarily focused on enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, particularly in South Dakota. This position is responsible for implementing quality improvement programs that align with the AHA's guidelines and objectives. The consultant will work closely with various healthcare providers, educating and motivating them to adopt best practices in clinical processes. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Consultant will drive the implementation of quality improvement projects aimed at helping healthcare providers adhere to AHA guidelines for treating cardiovascular disease patients. Key responsibilities include providing consultation and support through learning cohorts, developing program implementation strategies, and serving as the primary contact for ongoing resources needed by hospitals and clinics. The consultant will facilitate learning cohort meetings and local conferences, build relationships with stakeholders, and recruit program participants. Additionally, the consultant will develop clinical decision support tools, work collaboratively with clinicians to enhance care delivery, and manage project documentation, including budgets and timelines. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is essential to ensure tasks are completed according to grant timelines, and the consultant will also be responsible for addressing barriers to guideline adoption and improving clinical workflows.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in project management, including budget management and communication with stakeholders, is essential. The ideal candidate should have strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are required, and the ability to travel up to 15% for overnight stays in South Dakota is necessary.
