Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke position is a critical role within the American Heart Association, particularly focused on enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases in South Dakota. Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Program Consultant include driving the implementation of quality improvement projects that help healthcare providers adhere to AHA guidelines for treating cardiovascular disease. This involves providing consultation and support through learning cohorts, developing program implementation strategies, and facilitating meetings and conferences. The consultant will also be responsible for creating clinical decision support tools, recruiting program participants, and collaborating with clinical care teams to address barriers to guideline adoption. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is essential to ensure that tasks are completed according to the grant timeline, and the consultant will manage project documents, including budgets and status reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in project management, including budget and timeline management, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are necessary, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight stays in South Dakota.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required for this position. Candidates with equivalent work experience in healthcare or public health may also be considered. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to clinical quality improvement, program development, or healthcare management.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in post-acute care environments.
