Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, primarily focused on enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, particularly in the post-acute stroke context. This position is responsible for implementing quality improvement programs that align with the AHA's guidelines and objectives. The consultant will work closely with healthcare providers in South Dakota, educating them on best practices and motivating them to adhere to clinical guidelines. The role requires effective communication of project statuses, ensuring that all deliverables are met within the specified budget and timeline. The consultant will also collaborate with various departments within the national office to facilitate the success of these initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Program Consultant Healthcare Quality include driving the implementation of quality improvement projects aimed at helping healthcare providers treat patients according to AHA guidelines. The consultant will provide consultation, direction, and support through learning cohorts, identifying strategies for improving patient outcomes. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and volunteers is essential, as is facilitating learning cohort meetings and local conferences. The consultant will develop program implementation strategies that align with initiative objectives and serve as the primary contact for ongoing resources needed by hospitals and clinics. Additionally, the consultant will develop clinical decision support tools, recruit program participants, and work with clinical care teams to address barriers to guideline adoption. Regular communication with the Senior Manager is required to ensure tasks are completed according to grant timelines, and the consultant will manage project documents, including budgets and status reports for both internal and external audiences.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to post-acute stroke, is preferred. Candidates should have a background in healthcare or public health-related organizations, with experience in clinical quality improvement, program development, and systems improvement. Proficiency in project management, including budget management and communication with stakeholders, is essential. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, are necessary, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight stays in South Dakota.
