Job Overview:
The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, primarily focused on enhancing the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, particularly in South Dakota. This position is responsible for implementing quality improvement programs that align with AHA guidelines, ensuring that healthcare providers are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to improve patient outcomes. The consultant will work closely with various healthcare facilities, providing education and support to motivate adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including healthcare providers, volunteers, and internal departments, to ensure the successful execution of projects within budget and timelines. The consultant will also be involved in developing clinical decision support tools and strategies to sustain knowledge and improve clinical workflows.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: driving the implementation of quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing treatment for cardiovascular disease patients; providing consultation and support through learning cohorts; building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders; facilitating meetings and conferences; developing program implementation strategies; serving as the primary contact for resources needed by hospitals and clinics; establishing sustainability plans for grant components; creating clinical decision support tools; recruiting program participants; addressing barriers to guideline adoption; enhancing clinical workflows; communicating regularly with senior management; managing project documentation, including budgets and timelines; and ensuring grant deliverables are met.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience in a post-acute clinical setting, particularly related to stroke care, is preferred. Proficiency in project management, including budget and timeline management, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office applications are necessary, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 15% for work-related purposes.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Candidates with additional certifications or training in healthcare quality improvement or project management will be viewed favorably.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in healthcare, particularly in quality improvement, program development, or clinical settings. Experience in a post-acute care environment is highly desirable, as it directly relates to the responsibilities of the role.
