Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations (UN) in Rwanda, particularly through the Senior Human Rights Advisor’s Unit (SHRA), is dedicated to integrating human rights into its activities. The organization focuses on implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN in Rwanda emphasizes a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) to development, ensuring that all initiatives prioritize inclusivity and participation, in line with the Leave No One Behind (LNOB) principle. The UN Country Team (UNCT) established the 'One-UN Rwanda Human Rights Task Force' (HRTF) in 2020 to enhance human rights programming and institutional capacity, advising national partners on implementing recommendations from the Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

Job Overview:
The National UN Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Human Rights Advisor. This role involves a variety of administrative and financial tasks aimed at supporting the implementation of human rights initiatives in Rwanda. The volunteer will be responsible for drafting administrative correspondences, providing comprehensive administrative support for activities, and managing budgets and financial reports. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the OHCHR and local NGOs, to ensure the effective execution of human rights projects. The volunteer will also play a key role in organizing workshops and training sessions, contributing to the overall mission of promoting human rights in Rwanda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National UN Volunteer include: drafting administrative correspondences; providing administrative support for activity implementation; drafting budgets and payment rosters; ensuring procurement and logistics for activities; elaborating financial reports; preparing travel authorizations; verifying and processing local travel claims; ensuring payment of grants to selected NGOs; assisting in procurement of project assets; managing project assets and inventory; updating expenditure monitoring tables; archiving financial documents; managing the project budget; preparing financial reports; assisting in logistics for workshops and trainings; liaising with vendors; preparing documentation for service provider payments; and participating in project-related meetings and activities. The volunteer will also support the SHRA Unit in planning and implementing training workshops and human rights promotion activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and administrative skills, with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in financial management and reporting is essential, along with the ability to draft clear and concise correspondence. The role requires effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with human rights issues and the UN's operational framework is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the principles of human rights and sustainable development.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as human rights, international relations, public administration, or finance is required. Additional qualifications or certifications in project management or financial management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience in administrative support, financial management, or project coordination. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the field of human rights or development, is preferred. Familiarity with the UN system and its operations would be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda or French would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the volunteer's effectiveness in the role.
