Job Description
This consultancy will provide strategic and tactical leadership across all areas of the Individual Giving fundraising with the aim of maximizing RR (resources for results) revenue for UNICEF Costa Rica. The post holder will ensure the success of the fundraising investment allocated to the Country Office, will manage and deliver on the associated KPI’s for investment and will support the management on the partnership with the private sector.
UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, fundraising
UNICEF Costa Rica developed a UNICEF Private Sector Fundraising Plan 2021-2025, which aims to contribute to promoting UNICEF's mandate in the country and has been designed to drive the growth of local funding. The main circumstance and objective for this document is the potential suspension of the Office's Regular Resources (RR) estimated for 2025 according to the first forecasts, as the country enters the world category of high-income countries (HIC). This fact, and according to the first analyzes of the new County Programme Document (CPD), could suppose around 800K, making the operation of UNICEF Costa Rica practically unviable, despite the serious situations of vulnerability of children's rights in the country and the great existing inequalities.
Fundraising activities in the Costa Rica office began in 2017. In 2019, Costa Rica decided to join the regional project of Panama Hub due to the potential to generate local resources through a market whose possibilities are to reach more than 40,000 regular donors. At the same time, a Business Case was created to start a pilot for the recruitment of partners for the F2F channel, which later had to be suspended due to the arrival of COVID-19.
In August 2020, the digital campaigns project began to test the digital market in 5 countries in the region, including Costa Rica. Currently, Costa Rica has one of the highest average rates of donation from individual donors.
The closing of the gaps and inequities that affect children and adolescents as well as the recovery process from the pandemic confirm the urgent need to strengthen and accelerate the fundraising processes to achieve the results of the 2018-2022 cooperation program signed between UNICEF and the government of Costa Rica.
