International Consultant (Conduct Capacity Building of Health Professionals on Immunization)

For every child, Health Purpose of Activity/Assignment: UNICEF seeks to engage an external international consultant to conduct capacity building of health professionals on immunization in Abkhazia. The consultancy will support actions aimed to increase knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals engaged in Immunization. This includes a focus on FLWs and will build their capacities through the WHO training modules "Immunization in Practice" (IIP) and "Vaccine Safety and False Contraindications to Vaccination". Scope of Work: 1. Key Actions: Familiarization with the context to deliver the IIP and "Vaccine Safety and False Contraindications to Vaccination" training modules. Ddeliverables will include review of Program Review of Immunization and Vaccine Preventable Diseases in Abkhazia, the KAP survey on Immunization in Abkhazia, Rapid Review of Key Elements of Primary Health Care; conduct online briefing consultations with UNICEF staff to gain a good understanding of the context in Abkhazia; prepare draft training presentations. The Consultant is expected to prepare pre- and post-training tests and evaluate participants upon training completion. Deliverables:

• Familiarization of the trainer with context for better delivery of the training module on IIP and MLM;
• Preparation of training content, including agenda, hand-outs, PPP as well as pre- and post-training tests and

2. Key Actions: Deliver a training modules on IIP and "Vaccine Safety and False Contraindications to Vaccination" for cluster groups of selected medical professionals. The team estimates to have up to 10 groups of up to 25 participants each, clustered geographically and per healthcare facility level. According to the Module design, each group training will last 3 days. Trainings are designated for FLWs (relevant PHC, district policlinic and maternity ward workers) as well as for relevant teaching staff and students of local medical colleges. In order to build ownership, trainings are expected to be accompanied by relevant MLMs to ensure accountability and supervision. 3. Key Actions: Generate comprehensive report on key assigned deliverables, including analytical overview of carried out deliverables and review of participant evaluation: explicitly define key constrains and recommendations on further actions. 1. Location: from home Report. by end-November 2021. Duration:  20/09/2021-10 /12/2021 Number of Days (Working) : 38 days Minimum Qualifications required: Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• Advanced university degree in public health, development studies, social sciences;
• At least five (5) years of professional experience combining formal expertise in Public Health with experience of applying Immunization related expertise to specific developmental
• programmes; experience of work in similar contexts and in the area of Health will be an asset;
• Proven experience in providing IIP and Vaccine Safety and False Contraindications to Vaccination trainings and other immunization related trainings;
• Proven experience in developing training materials and delivering trainings on health, immunization related programming;
• Ability to communicate ideas in a manner conducive to their practical application;
• Fluency in English.  Knowledge of Russian or another language spoken in the region is highly desirable;
• Work experience in the ECA region is an asset.
