Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and/or overnight travel. All AHA offices are closed and staff are currently working from home. In the future, this position will resume to being based in the local office.
Responsibilities
The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for Sr. Director, Health Care Systems position in our SouthWest Region. The Sr Director will be located in the DFW area. This position is responsible for building and stewarding a comprehensive strategic plan for healthcare system engagement in impact and revenue work across the market. Responsible for facilitating hospital and health system participation in collective impact work in community and driving volunteer engagement.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage hospital systems engagement across all revenue, volunteer, and mission work in market. Increase healthcare system engagement in health impact internally through employee engagement and externally through community engagement.
- Create a long term, comprehensive plan to demonstrate value between the AHA and healthcare organizations that drive deeper relationships resulting in health impact and revenue generation.
- Cultivate executive relationships within healthcare systems, hospitals, and as appropriate, insurance providers in order to facilitate collaboration across revenue and impact work. Establish and steward C-Suite relationships with all healthcare systems in the area.
- Connect hospital leaders with AHA business lines in order to maximize engagement. Demonstrate increased engagement of volunteers from all major healthcare systems in board, event, and mission impact leadership work.
- Lead AHA in connecting with and leveraging hospital population health work including all Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), Community Benefit, and other community facing work. Increase system and employee engagement in AHA core events and explore new innovative opportunities. Demonstrate expertise in CHNA and Community Benefit work of local hospital systems and facilitate collaboration on areas of common interest with each other and other community stakeholders.
- Lead monthly, market level healthcare account management discussions.
- Ensure market integration with Healthcare Business Solutions including RQI, Get With The Guidelines and Community CPR.
- Demonstrate growth in revenue support from healthcare systems.
- Connect to, inform, and activate funded scientists and national volunteers in local market. Build and maintain database of and engagement plan for funded scientists and national volunteers in local market.
- Lead Clinical Systems Change efforts with FQHCs and Health Centers across the market.
- Support Community Policy, Systems and Environmental Change efforts, with a focus on clinic to community connections.
- Recruit health centers to participate in outpatient recognition programs and support associated quality improvement efforts.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Five (5) years of experience developing community led programs, projects or events.
- Five (5) years of experience engaging, motivating and retaining volunteer leaders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AHA mission programs.
- Three (3) years of experience in strategic planning and plan execution.
- Experience in sales & marketing to support revenue generation is a plus.
- Three (3) years of experience in healthcare systems change or improvement.
- Three (3) years of experience in community health and population benefit education.
- Three (3) years of experience in fundraising or business development.
