Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and/or overnight travel. All AHA offices are closed and staff are currently working from home. In the future, this position will resume to being based in the local office. Responsibilities The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Community Impact Director who will drive the execution of health impact goals across the state of Oklahoma by focusing on heart disease and stroke related risk factors, and the social determinants of health. Job Description: The Community Impact Director will:

• Manage, direct, and apply account management approach to develop and implement a customized, strategic, statewide plan for impact in Oklahoma. S/he will work in collaboration with cross-functional community-based teams to build strong volunteer relationships, collective impact plans and to support heart healthy resources in the community.
• Build and implement a cross-functional hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol control strategy with measurable outcomes (high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and healthy behavior initiatives) in the market.
• Collaborate with development staff partners and volunteers to identify, cultivate and secure program funding, including sponsorship for relevant programs, campaigns, and population health impact opportunities.
• Take on a leadership role within an active collective impact campaign that strives to pass policy, generate systems changes, and lead environment change opportunities that drive large and sustainable population health impact.
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers through strategic community alliances to achieve priority community and collective impact goals and will act as a lead team member when planning and executing community events in multicultural populations.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Five+ years experience developing community led programs, campaigns, projects or events
• Five+ years experience engaging, recruiting, motivating and retaining volunteer leaders
• Three (3) years of experience in strategic planning and plan execution
• Demonstrated strategic thinking skills in assessment of environments and available resources
• Knowledge of the social determinants of health and behavior modification through self-care activities and policy/system-wide changes
• Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and events ensuring deadline compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients
• Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority
• Self-motivated, highly effective organization and analytical skills, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% outside the market
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Public Health
• Three+ years experience in healthcare systems change or quality improvement
• Three+ years experience in community health and population benefit education
• Three+ years experience in fundraising or business development
• Three+ years in community organizing or campaign related work
• Experience working with multicultural and underserved communities
• Comprehensive knowledge of AHA mission programs
