Responsibilities
The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a
Senior .NET Developer in our
National Center office located in
Dallas, Texas .
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying web applications and other integration software to support AHA digital assets across all businesses. Additional responsibilities include gathering requirements, monitoring testing, and remediating defects throughout the development process and delivery to end users.
Essential Job Duties:
- Analyzes, secures, administers, supports, and manages Azure .Net solutions. Writes code and performs system/applications testing for the association’s web applications and properties.
- Provides debugging, system testing and technical support for digital technologies associated with assigned applications. Assists in fulfilling the day-to-day support and maintenance tasks of AHA’s digital assets.
- Provides analysis and development of databases including base definition, structures, documentation, operational guidelines, and protection. Estimates development efforts in conjunction with business requests.
- Follows and suggests improvements of web support and operation methodologies with associated standards and procedures for AHA’s 24 by 7 web environment, at all levels, including application and server levels.
- Transfers web properties from the digital development team into operational status within the framework of the AHA build/deployment schedules and processes. Provides appropriate documentation and artifacts of web products, operational processes and work status for team metric reports.
- Provides technical expertise and consultation to team members and business partners.
- Mentor junior team members as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related certification or equivalent related work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience:
- in software development using Microsoft .Net full-stack and related technologies.
- in web development technologies using HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML or C# programming language.
- with REST Web API; ASP.NET MVC 5; ASP.NET Entity Framework.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience:
- with ticketing systems; troubleshooting web application defects and debugging with in-browser tools.
- with Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) or similar project tracking tools.
- Experience with Azure platform.
- Experience working with identity management solutions (SSO.
- Experience with SQL Server database development including Transact-SQL and table design.
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Experience with OutSystems, low code platforms is a major plus.
- Experience writing Stored Procedures.
- Sitecore CMS development and admin experience.
- Angular or another JavaScript framework experience.
- Understanding of Content Management Systems.
- Customer service minded, good problem-solving skills, solutions oriented with excellent communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply.
Benefit Plans:
Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.
Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provides employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.
Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.
Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and
Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA.
