Position: Part-Time Remote Research Assistant
Location: Remote – anywhere in the world (contract will be governed by US law)
Period of performance: June 15-August 31, 2021 (approximately)
PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
From June – August 2021, ABA ROLI will undertake a research project in Northern Africa. ABA ROLI will engage researchers to collect qualitative and quantitative information regarding rights-related issues in the region. Surveys, focus-group discussions (FGDs), and key informant interviews (KIIs) will take place in several different areas.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
ABA ROLI seeks a part-time remote research assistant who will review, analyze, and support coding of surveys, KII and FGD results. The research assistant will also undertake research on human rights law-related topics and prepare research memos and papers for publication/dissemination. This position requires background and expertise in data analysis and research methodologies, as well as strong writing skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction from DC-based program staff, consultant will:
Support coding of data from field research including key informant interviews and focus group discussions;
Support analysis, interpretation, and synthesis of data from field research;
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field (current Law or Masters students also encouraged to apply).
At least two years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required; a knowledge of statistical applications and techniques is preferred.
Sound organizational and data management skills, and ability to handle several responsibilities and work under tight time constraints.
Ability to work without direct supervision, paying close attention to detail and bearing independent responsibility for accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English is required (knowledge of French and/or Arabic is a plus).
