Responsibilities The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Developer, Salesforce CRM in our National Center office. Location of the selected candidate is flexible provided location allows for effective and cost-efficient travel. In this role, you will be responsible for programming technical solutions on the Salesforce.com platform. Additional responsibilities include serving as lead developer to add features and functionality to meet complex enterprise business requirements, providing API and web service work, maintaining the NPSP data model, problem resolution, and communication with vendor technical resources. The Sr. Developer is also responsible for partnering with other engineers, developers, business analysts, and Salesforce administrators – a collaborative mindset is essential. Essential Job Duties:
  • Designs, codes, tests, and debugs complex solutions using key Salesforce core programing languages (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, XML, JavaScript, CSS, SOQL, RestAPIs, Process Builder, and Flows).
  • Serves as technical expert on new project initiatives and application design sessions. Plans and implements approved and assigned initiative. Communicates and interprets application requirements and modifications to vendor and Business Technology technical staff.
  • Develops project work plans and manages project to completion in accordance with plans which may include formulating system scope and objectives, developing detailed design specifications, and translating system function/features to programming specifications. Informs project team of status and time estimates for work on a regular basis.
  • Provides leadership and mentors Business Technology team members on Salesforce functionality and best practices.
  • Performs environment management to ensure a stable and structured environment. Provides technical documentation and environment audit trails for the application. Maintains Salesforce releases and upgrades.
  • Deploys and provides technical support for CI/CD in Salesforce.
  • Updates application procedures and standards as necessary to record best practices. Completes and communicates modifications to user operations or documentation.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Programming Language Certification or related field of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of:
  • Experience in application development and key areas of enterprise architecture, including integration technologies.
  • Experience maintaining Salesforce.com in a complex environment.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment techniques in Salesforce.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of Salesforce APIs and REST/SOAP webs services.
  • Proficient technical skills and functional knowledge of Salesforce CRM
  • Proficient in coding and programming key Salesforce core programing languages
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
  • Experience working with NPSP (Non-Profit Cloud), Pardot/Marketing Cloud or Experience Cloud.
  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator (ADM301), Certified Developer (Platform Developer I, Platform Developer II) certifications.

Compensation & Benefits Salary: Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply. Benefit Plans: Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability. Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provides employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions. Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year. Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more.
