Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
Purewish Foundation Uganda is dedicated to restoring hope and providing essential support to disadvantaged children, youths, and communities in Northern Uganda. Established with the mission to engage actively in the upliftment of these groups, the organization focuses on delivering education, health, sanitation, nutrition, spiritual life, and vocational training. It aims to advocate for the rights and well-being of disadvantaged individuals, particularly children and youths affected by HIV/AIDS. The foundation also emphasizes psycho-social support for orphans and street children, while promoting income-generating activities and conducting research to disseminate vital information within the community. Purewish Foundation Uganda collaborates with local and international charities and donors to garner public support for its initiatives, which include leadership training for youths and various community development programs.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the Water for Dignity: Rainwater Harvesting and Menstrual Health Initiative for Schoolgirls in Northern Uganda. This project aims to enhance access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health services for vulnerable schoolgirls in rural areas. The volunteer will be responsible for conducting research on best practices, identifying grant opportunities, and assisting in the preparation of high-quality project proposals and technical documentation. The initiative addresses significant challenges faced by rural schools, particularly chronic water shortages and the lack of menstrual hygiene management resources, which disproportionately affect adolescent girls. By providing reusable sanitary towel kits and menstrual health education, the project aims to reduce absenteeism and support girls' continued education. The volunteer's contributions will help strengthen the project's design and implementation, ultimately benefiting over 10,000 children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks to support the project, including: conducting research on best practices in rainwater harvesting, school WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), menstrual health management, and community-led development; developing and reviewing high-quality project proposals and concept notes for submission to institutional donors; researching grant opportunities and compiling relevant eligibility and application information; assisting in the preparation of logical frameworks, work plans, monitoring indicators, budgets, and supporting technical documentation for grant applications; creating educational materials, training manuals, fact sheets, and awareness resources related to water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health management; preparing project reports, case studies, impact stories, newsletters, presentations, and other communication materials; organizing project data, documenting lessons learned, and compiling progress reports for monitoring and evaluation; contributing innovative ideas for sustainable, community-owned approaches to improving school WASH and menstrual health services; and participating in virtual coordination meetings to provide technical recommendations for project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong research and analytical skills, with a background in project management, public health, or a related field. Proficiency in technical writing and proposal development is essential, along with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. The volunteer should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote setting. Familiarity with issues related to water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health is highly desirable, as is experience in working with non-profit organizations or community development projects.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a degree in a relevant field such as public health, social sciences, international development, or environmental studies. Advanced degrees or specialized training in project management, technical writing, or research methodologies will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in research, proposal writing, or project documentation, preferably within the non-profit sector. Experience working on projects related to water, sanitation, hygiene, or menstrual health is highly beneficial. The volunteer should demonstrate a strong understanding of grant application processes and have a proven track record of developing successful proposals.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Northern Uganda may be advantageous but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is flexible based on the availability of the volunteer. The role is part-time, allowing for a balance with other commitments. The organization is open to recruiting volunteers from both national and international backgrounds. While this position does not involve fundraising or direct solicitation of donations, the volunteer's contributions will significantly enhance the organization's capacity to secure funding through well-prepared proposals and documentation.
