Job Overview:
The Corporate Content Officer will be a key player in the Corporate and Institutional Communication Office within the Communication Department of the Director General’s Services Directorate. This position requires a proactive individual who will act as the Lead Content Synthesizer, responsible for the development and timely delivery of impactful corporate messaging across all internal and external ESA channels. The role is pivotal in ensuring strategic alignment between ESA Corporate Communication and various Directorates, thereby maintaining a unified agency voice. The Corporate Content Officer will engage in high-level storytelling, curate narratives that resonate with ESA's priorities, and manage the Agency’s corporate assets effectively. This position demands a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to enhance ESA's visibility and message accessibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Corporate Content Officer will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: optimizing ESA-wide planning by supporting the Head of Office in developing and maintaining both long-term and short-term communication roadmaps; leading the development of 'Lines to Take' (LTT) and core narratives to ensure a consistent corporate voice across all channels; curating high-impact storytelling by synthesizing cross-directorate narratives that align with ESA priorities; managing the Agency’s 'Corporate Assets' by creating and maintaining a centralized reference hub for harmonized narratives and messaging; and facilitating communication among Communication Programme Officers (CPOs) to identify storytelling opportunities across departments. The role also involves acting as a relay with CPOs to ensure a continuous flow of information and fostering a collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in a relevant field and have at least 8 years of professional experience in communication or a related area. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of communication networks among Member States and relevant stakeholders, as well as a good grasp of the European context and the challenges faced by other organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of ESA's core business and its relationships with other space agencies. Familiarity with ESA's brand narrative and associated messaging is also required.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in a relevant domain is mandatory for this position. This educational background should ideally be complemented by extensive experience in communication, public relations, or a related field, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should have a proven track record in corporate communication, content development, or a similar area, demonstrating their ability to manage complex communication tasks and deliver high-quality results under pressure. Experience in a multinational or intergovernmental organization would be advantageous.

Languages:
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good command of one of these languages is required for the position, while knowledge of another Member State language would be considered an asset. This multilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse environment of ESA.

Additional Notes:
The position is a four-year appointment, extendable to indefinite, and falls within the grade band A2-A
  • Recruitment will primarily be within this advertised grade band; however, candidates with less than four years of relevant experience may be considered for an A1 level position.
