Job Overview: The Partnerships Consultant will play a crucial role within WFP’s Partnerships Department, specifically in the Country Office Support Hub (PPDR). This position is designed to enhance the partnerships and resource mobilization efforts of Country Offices (COs) by providing operational, strategic, and business development support. The Consultant will be responsible for assisting COs in navigating corporate reporting and partnership planning processes, ensuring that they have the necessary tools and information to strengthen their partnerships. The role involves close collaboration with various divisions within WFP, including Global Offices and Regional Director Offices, to deliver high-quality support. The Consultant will also be expected to travel to the field as required, supporting COs throughout their partnership journey from planning to opportunity confirmation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic advice and analysis to Country Offices engaged in developing Country Strategic Plans and Partnering & Resourcing Strategies.
Assist COs in designing and drafting proposals, value propositions, and communication products.
Conduct funding landscape assessments to identify diversified funding opportunities.
Develop tailored donor engagement plans to support CO fundraising efforts.
Act as a point of contact for donor engagement and problem-solving.
Prepare briefing materials and presentations for high-value donor engagements.
Provide surge support during emergencies or peak periods.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CO and partner information.
Contribute to HQ information requests and Senior Management briefs on CO partnerships. 1
Manage and route CO support requests to relevant focal points. 1
Support the development of guidance and feed lessons learned into the PI knowledge system. 1
Identify and escalate partnership risks to management. 1
Undertake any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree or equivalent in disciplines such as political science, economics, international affairs, public administration, social sciences, development studies, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have a diverse mix of experience related to the portfolio, with familiarity in WFP’s operations, policy, planning, and partnerships being highly beneficial. Strong writing, analytical, and research skills are essential, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in multicultural settings.
Educational Background: A master's degree or equivalent in political science, economics, international affairs, public administration, social sciences, development studies, or any other field related to international development or humanitarian assistance is required for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have between 5-8 years of working experience in development, consultancy, research, or humanitarian response. Experience working directly in or with WFP operations is considered an asset, and previous work experience in various country contexts and with partnerships management is strongly preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in English at level C is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in at least one other WFP working language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, or Chinese) is required, which enhances the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is a contract for 11 months under the CST Reg type. The role is full-time and based in Rome, Italy.
