Job Overview:
The Associate Transaction Processing & Digital Transformation Officer position at the EIB is a full-time role based in Luxembourg, requiring regular office presence. This role is integral to the Finance Directorate, specifically within the Planning and Settlement of Operations Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, ensuring that the bank meets its commitments while managing operational and settlement risks effectively. The position also involves supporting the transformation of back-office operations through the adoption of data-driven solutions, automation, and emerging technologies such as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The role requires a combination of financial markets expertise and a strong focus on data analysis and technology adoption, contributing to the evolution of the back office towards a more automated and intelligent operating model.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Transaction Processing & Digital Transformation Officer include executing end-to-end processing of Borrowings, Treasury, and Derivatives transactions, ensuring timely confirmations, settlements, and lifecycle event management. The officer will perform controls to reduce operational, financial, and reputational risks, monitor and resolve breaks, settlement failures, or discrepancies promptly. Additionally, the officer will contribute to the continuous improvement of control frameworks, particularly in automated environments. The role also involves analyzing operational data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, applying analytical techniques to support decision-making, and developing dashboards and reports to monitor performance. The officer will contribute to automation initiatives, explore data-driven and AI solutions, and support the integration of DLT-based settlement models into existing processes. Collaboration with various teams, including Front Office, Risk, Legal, IT, and Data, is essential for operational and transformation topics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor) in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Additional relevant postgraduate studies or professional qualifications are considered advantageous. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, ideally in Treasury/Derivatives, preferably within the Middle or Back Office of a financial institution. Candidates should have a good understanding of financial products, including bonds and derivatives, and possess knowledge of SWIFT messaging and settlement processes. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with operational and financial datasets are essential. Exposure to automation tools, workflow engines, and process optimization techniques is also required, along with familiarity with AI or data science use cases. Understanding of distributed ledger/blockchain concepts is beneficial, as is hands-on experience with data analysis or programming tools such as Python or SQL.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or Data Science. Candidates with additional postgraduate studies or professional qualifications will have an advantage. The role requires a solid foundation in financial markets and data analysis, as well as familiarity with emerging technologies and their applications in financial operations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in Treasury or Derivatives, with a preference for candidates who have worked in the Middle or Back Office of a financial institution. Experience in financial operations processing and a good understanding of financial products are essential. Candidates should also have exposure to automation and data analysis tools, as well as familiarity with AI applications in financial contexts.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential, and a good command of French is also required, as both languages are official working languages of the EIB. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages to ensure eligibility for future career development within the organization.

This is a full-time position at grade 4, and the EIB offers a permanent contract. Panel interviews are anticipated for November/December.
