Job Overview: The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) and M&E Unit at WFP's Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) in Bridgetown, Barbados. This internship is designed as an entry-level learning opportunity that will provide practical exposure to monitoring and evaluation systems, data analysis, results reporting, and organizational learning processes. The intern will work closely under the guidance of the VAM and M&E team, contributing to evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and program effectiveness across the Caribbean region. The role involves assisting in various tasks related to monitoring, reporting, data management, and documentation, which are essential for the successful implementation of WFP programs. The internship is a full-time position for a duration of six months, allowing the intern to gain valuable experience in the humanitarian sector and develop skills that are critical for future career opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: compiling, cleaning, and organizing monitoring and evaluation data from various program activities, assessments, and surveys; maintaining information records, monitoring trackers, and databases; preparing tables, charts, and dashboards for internal reporting; drafting and formatting monitoring reports and presentations; assisting in the preparation of monitoring activities and evaluations; organizing and archiving monitoring tools and documentation; conducting desk reviews and background research; documenting lessons learned and success stories; supporting the organization of workshops and training events; tracking recommendations from monitoring exercises; and integrating cross-cutting considerations such as gender and disability inclusion into monitoring tasks. This comprehensive set of responsibilities will provide the intern with a well-rounded experience in M&E processes and practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria to apply for this internship. They should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program from a recognized university, having completed at least two years of their undergraduate studies or being a recent graduate within six months prior to application. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of other WFP official languages is an asset. The intern must be available to work full-time for six months and should not have immediate family members employed by WFP. The program recognizes educational credentials from institutions certified by competent authorities, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary academic qualifications for the role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a recognized undergraduate or graduate program.
