Job Overview: The WHO Assistant position is crucial for supporting the operational functions of the World Health Organization in the Solomon Islands. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting the delivery of services in specialized operational areas; sharing information with clients and partners regarding procedures and regulations; maintaining adherence to rules and regulations in service delivery; supporting financial operations including budget administration and financial monitoring; assisting in human resources functions such as recruitment and onboarding; managing procurement processes for goods and services; administering inventory and organizational assets; and handling travel administration tasks including visa processing and travel bookings. The role may also involve supporting other technical teams as needed, ensuring that all operations align with WHO's business plans and standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completion of secondary or high school education as a minimum requirement. Desirable qualifications include training and certification in UN operational service areas or systems. The role demands a strong understanding of WHO's support procedures and practices in financial, human resources, procurement, and information technology support services. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to competing priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least a secondary or high school diploma. Additional training or certification in relevant operational service areas within the UN system is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in administrative or clerical functions. Experience in administrative support roles within WHO or another United Nations agency is highly desirable. Familiarity with Oracle-based systems or other enterprise resource planning systems will be advantageous for applicants.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken English is essential for this position, along with proficiency in the local language. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication within the diverse environment of WHO operations in the Solomon Islands.
Additional Notes: The position offers an attractive remuneration package, including an annual net base salary starting at SBD 99,442, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
