Job Overview: The Analyst position at EBRD is a critical role that supports the Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) and the Front Office in various analytical and operational tasks. The Analyst is responsible for monitoring regional business delivery, analyzing the investment pipeline and portfolio, and preparing timely and accurate information for senior management decision-making. This role involves comprehensive due diligence, including financial, market, integrity, and compliance assessments, as well as effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The Analyst will engage in financial, operational, and market analysis, maintain performance information, support business planning, and prepare materials for internal and external engagements. The position requires close coordination with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring high standards of judgment, confidentiality, and responsiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will undertake a variety of responsibilities under the guidance of the MD SEMED and senior Front Office colleagues. Key duties include:
Portfolio, Pipeline, and Performance Analysis: Collecting, validating, and analyzing regional portfolio data; preparing dashboards and management reports; identifying trends and delivery risks; and coordinating follow-ups with relevant teams.
Financial and Sector Analysis: Conducting financial, sector, client, and country analysis to support business planning and strategic initiatives.
Maintaining Trackers: Keeping accurate trackers for priority projects and management actions, escalating issues as necessary.
Preparing Briefings: Creating concise briefing notes, presentations, and meeting materials for senior management engagements.
Coordination of Senior Management Missions: Supporting the logistics and materials for senior management missions and regional reviews.
Contributing to Regional Strategy: Engaging in research and analysis related to private-sector development and regional resilience.
Handling Sensitive Information: Ensuring discretion and accuracy in completing assigned tasks in line with the Bank’s policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred in public policy, economics, finance, or related fields. They should have strong quantitative skills and the ability to interpret financial information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages, including financial analysis and modeling, is essential. Experience in preparing briefings and coordinating contributions from multiple stakeholders is desirable. A good understanding of relevant systems and processes is also required, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree in public policy, economics, finance, or equivalent experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial analysis and investment strategies.
Experience: The position requires relevant experience in the financial industry, preferably from an investment or commercial bank, international development agency, or consulting firm that operates to international standards. Candidates should have exposure to industry and country-specific experiences that enhance their understanding of the regional economic landscape.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with strong written and oral communication skills. A good command of the Arabic language is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and enhance communication within the region.
