Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Network Administrator include participating in the installation, commissioning, testing, and operation of network infrastructure that supports the ATLAS Data Acquisition (DAQ) system. The candidate will deploy and maintain a production-ready network monitoring and alerting solution for critical DAQ services and equipment. Collaboration with experts from other LHC experiments is essential to identify common requirements and contribute to the development of scalable, future-proof monitoring solutions. Additionally, the role involves supporting the operation and upkeep of the ATLAS TDAQ laboratory, including infrastructure, equipment, and resource management activities. The candidate will also contribute to the maintenance and evolution of the ATLAS DAQ hardware infrastructure, which includes server deployment, hardware interventions, and providing related technical support.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have basic experience as a Sysadmin or Netadmin, along with hands-on experience with server and/or switch installations in a professional environment. A basic knowledge of the TCP/IP stack and Ethernet networks is required, as well as basic programming skills in Python and Bash. General knowledge of Linux systems is also necessary. The ability to work effectively in teams is crucial, and candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computing Infrastructures or a related field. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.
