Job Overview:
The Country logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager at Humanity & Inclusion is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of logistics resources across Yemen, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director. This role involves active participation in the phased reorganization of HI in the field and is crucial for the rollout and implementation of HI's logistics standards. The manager will oversee program logistics management, embody HI's values, and act as a coach and operational manager for the logistics team. The position requires a strategic approach to logistics, including the development and execution of operational objectives, risk management, and compliance with HI's standards. The manager will also represent HI externally on logistical issues and develop local partnerships necessary for the organization's activities. The role demands a proactive approach to emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that logistics operations can adapt to changing circumstances in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Logistics Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Overseeing the operational management of the logistics team, structuring work around identified processes, and steering performance.
  • Contributing to the development of the logistics section of the Strategic Operational Plan (StratOp) and directing its action plan.
  • Producing and updating the risk map for the area of responsibility and implementing corrective measures.
  • Compiling and analyzing data for the logistics dashboard and ensuring compliance with HI standards.
  • Leading emergency preparedness actions and reorganizing team priorities in case of emergencies.
  • Facilitating the development of the logistics profession within the organization and contributing to the global community of practice.
  • Conducting technical interviews and identifying training needs for local talent.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal rules and institutional donor regulations.
  • Representing HI in external forums related to logistics and developing necessary partnerships.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess proven experience in at least five years in sectors such as procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems. Additionally, at least three years of experience in a coordination position is required. Strong analytical and synthesis skills are essential, along with proven leadership experience and the ability to effectively train and manage a logistics team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage stress and work under pressure, handle conflicts, and possess strong intercultural skills. Good negotiation skills in English are mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in logistics or project management may be advantageous and are often preferred by employers in this sector.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least three years in a leadership or coordination role. Candidates should have a track record of managing logistics operations in complex environments, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience in emergency response logistics is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the specific challenges faced in conflict-affected regions.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset, as it facilitates communication with local partners and communities. Knowledge of additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific context of the operations.

The position is based in Aden/Sana’a, Yemen, with an international contract lasting 12 months, starting mid-November 202
  • The role is unaccompanied, meaning that the employee will not be allowed to bring family members. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from 2860€, a net monthly per diem of 619€, and a hardship allowance of 500€. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and a rest and recuperation period of 5 days every 8 weeks. Housing is provided collectively by HI, and additional benefits include unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. Repatriation insurance is also covered by HI.
