Job Overview:
The position of Asistente Técnico/a de Turismo Sostenible is crucial for the successful implementation and monitoring of sustainable tourism initiatives within the framework of the project 'Establecimiento de una Economía Circular para un Turismo Sostenible en la Región del Cusco, Perú'. This role involves providing technical and operational support to the Sustainable Tourism Specialist and the project team, ensuring effective coordination with stakeholders, and assisting in the preparation and execution of field activities. The assistant will be responsible for gathering and organizing information, monitoring pilot interventions, and documenting project activities, all aimed at promoting sustainable tourism practices and protecting cultural heritage in the Cusco region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asistente Técnico/a de Turismo Sostenible will have a range of responsibilities including:
  • Supporting the organization and operational coordination of sustainable tourism activities, maintaining updated schedules, and ensuring effective communication with tourism sector stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of field interventions, including pilot projects, by accompanying field visits and recording progress and incidents.
  • Collecting, organizing, and systematizing information necessary for the development and monitoring of sustainable tourism activities, including the application of surveys and maintaining databases.
  • Aiding in the preparation and execution of meetings, workshops, and training sessions with tourism stakeholders, ensuring all materials and participant records are managed effectively.
  • Documenting and reporting on activities, including preparing field reports and maintaining organized records of evidence generated during project activities.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the project coordinator, in coordination with the Sustainable Tourism Specialist.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree or professional title in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Tourism, Hotel Management, or related fields. Additionally, applicants with degrees in Biology or Environmental Engineering must have completed at least two complementary courses related to circular economy, sustainable tourism, or environmental management. Those with degrees in Tourism or Hotel Management must have completed courses in environmental management or sustainability. Furthermore, a minimum of two years of general experience in public or private sectors related to environmental management, sustainable tourism, or similar fields is required, along with fieldwork experience in data collection and stakeholder engagement.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a bachelor's degree or professional title in relevant fields such as Biology, Environmental Engineering, Tourism, or Hotel Management. Candidates must also demonstrate completion of specific complementary courses that align with the focus of the position, particularly in areas related to sustainable tourism and environmental management.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the public or private sector is required, particularly in roles related to environmental management, sustainable tourism, or project implementation. Candidates should have experience in fieldwork that involves data collection and interaction with tourism service providers and local stakeholders. Desirable experience includes conducting workshops and training sessions, as well as involvement in international cooperation projects focused on sustainability and cultural heritage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of Quechua is desirable, and proficiency in English is also considered an asset for this position.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is a consultant contract lasting four months, with no expectation of renewal or conversion to another type of contract. The role requires residency in Cusco or availability to stay in Cusco during the consultancy period. The position involves field activities primarily in the provinces of Cusco and Urubamba, with planned travel to Machupicchu for data collection and stakeholder engagement.
