Job Overview:
The REnew GEDSI and Partnerships Coordinator position is a full-time, maximum-term role based in Port Vila, Vanuatu, as part of the International Programs – REnew team. This role is crucial in supporting partners across the Pacific to implement inclusive, safe, and locally led programming. The coordinator will focus on strengthening gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI), child safeguarding, and equitable partnerships within all REnew funded initiatives. The position involves a combination of technical support, capacity building, and relationship management, ensuring that marginalized communities, including children, women, and people with disabilities, are actively included in climate resilience and renewable energy programs. The coordinator will engage in regional site visits, provide hands-on mentoring to partners, and facilitate training sessions to enhance the understanding and implementation of GEDSI principles. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and have a strong commitment to promoting inclusivity and safeguarding in development work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the REnew GEDSI and Partnerships Coordinator include:
  • Providing GEDSI and safeguarding technical support to REnew partners throughout the design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and delivery phases.
  • Supporting partners in embedding inclusive, safe, and participatory approaches across the entire project cycle.
  • Delivering training and coaching on safeguarding, PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment), and safe programming to partner staff.
  • Strengthening the capacity of local partners through mentoring, conducting assessments, and developing tailored work plans.
  • Building effective relationships with civil society organizations, private sector entities, and government stakeholders to foster collaboration and support.
  • Sharing evidence, learning, and insights to promote continuous improvement and localization of programs.
  • Conducting GEDSI analyses, assessments, and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of development programs.
  • Developing GEDSI strategies, action plans, and monitoring frameworks to guide program implementation.
  • Producing high-quality reports, briefs, and training materials to communicate findings and recommendations. 1
  • Engaging in advocacy and policy discussions at national and sub-national levels to promote GEDSI principles. 1
  • Managing multiple priorities and ensuring timely completion of tasks while maintaining strong organizational and time management skills. 1
  • Traveling up to 25% of the time to field locations for program support and partner engagement.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong technical knowledge of GEDSI principles, frameworks, and methodologies, including gender mainstreaming, disability inclusion, and social inclusion approaches. Candidates should possess excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills, particularly with diverse audiences such as government, NGOs, and community stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in conducting GEDSI analyses, assessments, and audits is essential, along with strong partnership management and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in developing GEDSI strategies, action plans, and monitoring frameworks is required, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to translate complex GEDSI concepts into practical program actions. Experience in proposal writing, donor reporting, and knowledge management is also necessary, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools is expected, along with knowledge of international development frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CEDAW, and CRPD. A commitment to child safeguarding and a rights-based approach to development is crucial for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the REnew GEDSI and Partnerships Coordinator position should have a relevant educational background, typically including a degree in social sciences, international development, gender studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in GEDSI, child safeguarding, or related areas may be advantageous. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong understanding of the principles and practices related to gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion within the context of international development.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in the field of international development, particularly in roles focused on gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is typically expected, with a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders, including civil society organizations and government agencies. Experience in capacity building, training facilitation, and partnership management is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to implement GEDSI strategies and frameworks effectively. Candidates should also have experience in monitoring and evaluating development programs, as well as a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to inclusive programming in the Pacific region.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for reporting purposes. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Pacific region, such as Bislama, French, or other local dialects, would be considered an asset and beneficial for engaging with local partners and communities.

This position is a full-time role with a maximum term of 24 months, based in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The role is open to Ni-Vanuatu citizens, but other Pacific nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
