Job Overview:
The Protection Analysis and Information Management Specialist plays a crucial role in generating high-quality protection evidence and analysis for DRC Lebanon. This position transcends traditional information management, serving as the program's principal analytical resource. The Specialist is responsible for identifying, interpreting, and communicating protection risks affecting refugees, displaced populations, migrants, stateless persons, and vulnerable Lebanese communities. The role involves transforming complex quantitative and qualitative datasets into actionable protection analysis, supporting evidence-based programming, advocacy, strategic decision-making, and donor engagement through the production of analytical products. The Specialist will lead the design and implementation of protection information management frameworks, produce analytical reports, conduct qualitative analysis, and engage with field staff to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Protection Information Management Specialist include leading the design and continuous improvement of protection information management frameworks, producing monthly and quarterly protection analysis reports, conducting advanced qualitative analysis of various data sources, triangulating information across multiple sectors, identifying emerging protection risks, and developing evidence-based recommendations. The Specialist will also create analytical products, thematic briefs, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external audiences, ensuring that outputs incorporate intersectional analysis. Additionally, the role involves maintaining Power BI dashboards, coordinating analytical exercises with partners, and supporting advocacy efforts through evidence generation and position papers. The Specialist will oversee data quality assurance procedures and strengthen the analytical capacity of protection teams through coaching and guidance.
Required Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, protection analysis, research, information management, or humanitarian assessments. A Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Social Research, Information Management, Economics, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality analytical reports, possess advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, and have strong proficiency in analytical tools such as Power BI, Excel, Kobo, SPSS, R, or Python. Excellent report writing skills and a strong understanding of protection principles and frameworks are essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage multiple analytical products under tight deadlines.
Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Data Science, Social Research, Information Management, Economics, International Relations, or Social Sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of data analysis and protection issues in humanitarian contexts.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as data analysis, protection analysis, research, information management, or humanitarian assessments. Candidates should have experience working with mixed-method datasets and multi-sectoral information sources, as well as a proven ability to produce high-quality analytical reports similar to protection monitoring or situation analysis products.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is strong communication skills in both English and Arabic to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and present findings.
Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is until the 31st of March 2027, pending project approval. The position is classified as Band G-2 Non Management, with the duty station located in Beirut, requiring frequent travel to other locations. The expected start date is October 202
